The Nike Kobe 8 All Star Area 72 is a special edition colorway of the Nike Kobe 8, released as part of the Nike Basketball All-Star Pack in 2013. The "Area 72" theme was inspired by a fictional extraterrestrial location, as the design incorporates space-inspired elements.
The shoes have a one-piece engineered mesh upper, which is known for its lightweight and breathable properties, which are geared towards maximum comfort. The upper showcases a galactic inspired pattern with a mix of orange, white, and red hues resembling the colors seen in outer space. It also has teal accents on the laces and the Nike Swoosh, while the midsole and outsole appear in white and red respectively.
The main standout feature on these Nike Kobe 8 All Star Area 72 is the sole unit, which uses Lunarlon cushioning in the midsole. It has a soft and supportive foam core that is lighter than standard foam. The shoes were initially released for retail on February 15, 2013, priced at $180.
