Nike's Air Max Plus Wolf Gray is part of a longstanding silhouette that draws heavily on nautical themes, according to original designer Sean McDowell. The Wolf Gray variant of the Air Max Plus seeks to balance this purposefully exaggerated design with a relatively neutral colorway.
The gray appears uniformly throughout the silhouette, and the palm tree bars coming up the sides of the shoe start out with a whitish-gray at the bottom that moves to black as the lines go up toward the top. For the midsole, the design is meant to evoke imagery of a whale's giant tail breaching the surface of the water. This design caps off with an outsole that includes Nike's flexible yet durable membrane of pressurized air.
