The Nike Air Tailwind 79 has been a staple of Nike's running sneaker collection for almost half a century. The Nike Air Tailwind 79 Navy White offers a slightly modern take on it while maintaining many of its distinguishing features.
At first glance, you might mistake this Nike Air Tailwind 79 for the original. It has almost the same sleek silhouette these days that it did back when it was originally released in the late 1970s. It also features retro Swooshes to make it look vintage. But it's made out of a lightweight mesh and suede now with an Air-Sole unit in the midsole to make it more comfortable than ever before.
Our experts were glad to see that Nike hasn't modernized every aspect of this sneaker, though. You'll still find the brand's trademark Waffle treads on the bottom providing traction while also giving them a unique look. The Nike Air Tailwind 79 Navy White was released on January 1, 2019, and originally retailed for $90.
