The Athletic Department Deep Royal Blue iteration of the Nike Air Max 1 features an upper with a base constructed from white mesh that keeps the shoe lightweight and provides breathability. Suede in shades of gray overlay the forefoot, eye stays, side panel, and heel, providing an aesthetic element as well as structure. A dark blue suede mud guard surrounds the shoe and sports an iridescent mini swoosh. The same blue is echoed in a sock liner and the side-panel Nike swoosh that sneaks beneath the heel.
