The Nike Air Max Plus Origins Waterway applies a serene palm tree pattern to the Air Max Plus to celebrate Sean McDowell, the designer behind this iconic sneaker.​

The palm trees represent one of the natural elements that inspired Sean McDowell while he created the Air Max. Although other versions of the Air Max Plus feature sunset colors, the "Origins Waterway" variation boasts a white background with palm trees printed in Waterway and Fiberglass. This gives the sneaker a tonally cooler appearance than other models. The upper is made of a lightweight synthetic mesh with wavy lines winding across the exterior in a silver-like hue. The chunky midsole displays visible Air Max units in the heel and forefoot. In terms of branding, a yellow logo on the heel displays ‘TN AIR’ and the tongue houses a Swoosh and ‘AIR’ lettering.
