The A Bathing Ape Bape Sta Icon Low Black Gray Patent utilizes patent leather in black and gray to create its overlaid upper athletic shoe silhouette. The gray base lends subtlety to the Sta Icon side appliqués, which coordinate in black with the tip, heel, and lace panel. The white Bape branded midsole coordinates with the ankle ape head logo, rear heel tab Bape Sta logo, and tongue branding.
Japanese streetwear brand A Bathing Ape, which can also be referred to as Bape, traces its lineage to 1993 in Ura-Harajuku, Tokyo, when artist Nigo founded the brand by producing hoodies and t-shirts. By 2002, Bape had produced the Bape Sta sneaker, a low-top basketball style shoe with star overlays, which some say ignited the worldwide sneaker collecting era of the 2000s.
