The New Balance 550 White Incense Driftwood dresses an iconic basketball silhouette in a subtle colorway. Originally launched in 1989, the 550 has been reimagined with a design that streamlines the '80s features yet retains its classic look.

The White Incense Driftwood iteration of the New Balance 550 features an upper with a base of white suede. This is overlaid with undulating layers of perforated white suede, smooth white leather, light tan suede, and a darker tan suede. The collar is composed of breathable tan mesh that matches the sock liner and the lining of the white mesh tongue. The sail-colored foam midsole rests on a darker tan rubber outsole that has circles and grooves for multidirectional traction.

What we enjoy most about this sneaker are the various hits of New Balance branding, including the tan NB on the white leather heel, a darker tan suede N in a cut-out window, and 550 embroidered near the bottom of the lateral laces. New Balance branding is also embroidered on the tongue tag and embossed on the midsole. The New Balance 550 White Incense Driftwood was released on August 23, 2023, for $120 retail.
